Old Friends - Gone But Not Forgotten
Georgeanne “GiGi” or “GG” Wick Bender

Georgeanne “GiGi” or “GG” Wick Bender was a beloved mother and grandmother during her incredible 82 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the late hours of Saturday, December 24, 2022. We will remember Georgeanne for many things, but particularly her sense of humor, her passion for cats, bridge, and baseball, and of course, her endearing stubbornness. She adored her grandchildren beyond measure and was always sure to share the latest adventures of her kitties with them. She enjoyed visits and frequent phone calls with her daughter, Mary. Gigi was passionate about politics and did everything in her power to ensure her community was registered to vote (preferably for the Democratic party!). She was an avid baseball fan, always rooting for her Atlanta Braves and bringing loved ones to stadiums to take in a game and a beer. She was particularly proud of visiting every single Major League Baseball park….and she would share amazing stories about it! Gigi had a long and full life. She was born on January 26 in 1940 to George and Katherine Wick. She also had two older brothers, Tom and Richard. Gigi grew up in Alexandria, VA, and while she lived in many places throughout her life, she settled in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She owned her own company, Security Services, for 30 years, running her business from her home. She later turned her place of work into her permanent place of residence. Her home became a beloved place for many 4th of July celebrations, beach vacations, Christmases and even a gathering spot for homeless cats. She relished her time here in Cocoa Beach, always welcoming others into a home built on love and a good time. Gigi had four beautiful daughters: Penny, Elise, Katherine, and Mary. She loved her children, and we are at ease knowing she is finally able to reunite with some of them. Gigi is survived by her daughter, Mary, and her grandchildren, Kathryn and Jonathan. We will miss Gigi dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts and at the beach. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Purrs And Whiskers Shelter, Inc. (PAWS) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3, all-volunteer organization.

My wife Jeanne, the best part of my life for over 60 years, died on August 23rd at Orlando Regional Hospital during a radiation procedure. This wonderful wife, mother and grandmother was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 20th, 1931. She also had two admirable sisters, one a Dominican nun. She taught school at Fort Bragg, Italy, Virginia and Taiwan during and after my military career. Our only child, Lianne, a psychotherapist, is a Godsend and well suited to help during this unexpected tragedy. Throughout her life she loved her family, church, retreats, friends, especially her avid bridge players, all of which made her life whole. Celebration details later. We love you.

Cocoa Beach - Charlie died June 14, 2018 of heart failure after a short illness. He was 90 years old. Charlie lived a full and interesting life. Born Klaus Werner Gallewski on August 14, 1927, Charlie began his life in Trebintz, Silesia, Germany. In 1938, his family escaped the Nazi menace by emigrating. They lived in Cuba while they waited for their number to be called and in 1941 they were able to immigrate into the U.S. At that time, Klaus became Charles Gale. He was drafted into the Army in 1945. Upon discharge, he attended the Ohio State University on the GI Bill, earning an MBA and graduating with honors. Charlie began his career in retail, specializing in women's' wear, and moved several times climbing through the ranks to manage larger and larger stores. However, he eventually ended up on the manufacturing side when he moved to San Francisco in the seventies to become the director of manufacturing and marketing of the women's' wear division for Levi-Strauss. In 2006, Charles retired to Cocoa Beach, Florida with his partner and life companion of 35 years, Anna Lynn Wagner. There he lived out the remainder of his life surrounded by a large group of family and friends.
Charlie was an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player, becoming a Life Master twice. In retirement, he continued to play bridge several times a week, even winning a tournament pairs game in Gatlinburg in the month before his death. A selfless and kind man, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Cocoa Beach for several years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charlie will be remembered for his easy manner, his positive outlook, and his sense of humor. He never met a stranger, and would often strike up a jovial conversation with those around him. Left behind to celebrate his memory are life partner, Anna Lynn Wagner; daughter, Julie Gale Cason; son, Steve Gale; grandchildren, Bill and Brian Lehmann; and two great-grandchildren. Additional family includes, Terri Wagner Cooper, David Wagner, Jeffery Wagner and 6 grand-children.
